MY THOUGHTS ON THE WINTER HOLIDAYS

I'm a fan of the fall and winter season. I'm just someone who loves the weather. The temperature drops and you can cuddle up next to the heater on the couch with your loved ones, pet included. And you can veg out in front of the tv. People decorate more in the later holidays and winter months more so than any other holiday. As a child your only job is to be good and send Santa a letter tellig him what you want, and enjoy your winter vacation. As an adult you view the winter time differently. Especially if you are a parent. You get to be Santa. The one entity that children will behave for. And although the magic is shifted when you become an adult, you get to make magic for children. Because I personally hate Christmas and the terrible commercialism that has engulfed the holiday, if it wasn't for my children and my nieces, I probably wouldn't celebrate. But I really do love Christmas songs. They inspire hope, love, friendship and family. And I absolutely love Christmas decorations, with the bright colored lights and the various nativity scenes.  I love taking my children driving around looking at the houses and their decorations. It's sooo much fun. But my favorite part of the holiday is letting the children decorate the tree. The joy on their faces is unmatched. And on christmas eve we set out cookies for santa with his milk. A customary bribe. I cherish these years because one year they won't believe in Santa and it takes away a little bit of the magic. But it's my job to maintain the belief. No matter how much I want to scream, "Fuck that! Santa didn't buy you that! I did!" It kind of does bother me that he get the credit for my hard earned savings, LOL. But I make up for it with the hugs and thank yous that I get for everything else. And you can't put a price on the joy of children.

Love Always.
